Biography

Kirsta is from a little known and very scenic suburb of Los Angeles called Palos Verdes. The youngest of four children, she learned from an early age how to stand up for herself and put up a good fight. She began art classes at the age of five and studied everything from watercolors to perspective over the course of the next twelve years. Drama class entered her life in junior high simply because her choices were that or home economics, but something about acting clicked with her.

Continuing to study theater into high school, she surprised her parents when she told them that that was what she wanted to major in in college, and in 2001 she moved cross-country to attend the prestigious NYU Theater program. There she studied at the Stella Adler Studio and the Royal Academy in London. She also took part in a Growtowski Summer intensive in Orvieto, Italy through Fordham University. After graduating cum laude in Theater with a minor in Art, Kirsta began pursuing her acting career relentlessly.

She has had Broadway callbacks and has worked Off-Broadway with The Red Bull Theatre Company. She has performed in many productions Off-off Broadway including playing Lady Macbeth in "Macbeth" (Red Door Theater Company), and the leading roles in the new plays "Expecting" (The Player's Theater), and "What Happens To Women Here" (Richmond Shepard Theater). She portrayed the role of Touchstone in "As You Like It" in the Midtown International Theater Festival, for which she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Play (MITF Awards).

Last year she earned her SAG card with a role in the new feature film, "Café", from the producers of "Napolean Dynamite", and this year she passed another milestone by earning her Actors' Equity card. Most recently she completed a leading role in the short film, "Homecoming", which can be viewed on this website.

Kirsta has also begun to explore her skills as a writer and has just completed her first feature length screenplay, "Fare Foreward", about a young woman named Natalie who hits rock bottom and then sets out on a journey of redemption. She is currently shopping her script to agents and production companies. If you would like to learn more about Kirsta or her script, feel free to email her at kirstapeterson@gmail.com.
